“Saktas ziedu tirgus, kiosks Nr. 21. Ziedu kiosks kā telpa dabas un pilsētas mijiedarbībai. Ziedu trauslums, noskranduši plastmasas spaiņi, nolupuši cenu zīmju nospiedumi, sulojoši kāti un plāksteri uz pārdevēju sagrieztajiem pirkstiem. Šīs pretrunas, šķietamā nepareizība, ziedu un pilsētas slāņu sajaukums kalpo par iedvesmu fotogrāfes Jūlijas Sinkas darbiem. Kontrasti, kas sasaucas ar bērnības ikdienas ainām Austrumeiropas radoši taupīgajā, eklektiskajā DIY kultūras telpā, kuru raksturo pārbagāta materialitāte un estētiski nesavienojamu priekšmetu kombinācijas.


Sērijā “Zied ziedi” Jūlija fotokameru aizstāj ar biroja skeneri, pētot ziedu materialitāti, formu un krāsu, dekonstruējot un slāņojot līdz izzūd to ierastās aprises. Kārtu kārtas kā nospiedumi noklāj papīru ar sataustāmu krāsas faktūru, sasaucoties ar uzslāņojumiem pilsētā.


Montas Briedes radītā kioska instalācija kļūst par organisku scenogrāfiju Jūlijas ziedu nospiedumiem. Veikalos sastopamo klišeju koncentrāts – neona gaismas, LED displeji, krāsaini katalogi – pārblīvējums un pārspīlējums, kas ir tik pašsaprotams un ierasts pilsētas ainavā un ikdienā, bet šķiet nesavienojams ar ziedu trauslo būtību. Nelielajā kioska platībā atklājas pilsētas daudzslāņainā, pretrunīgā daba.” – Ieva Laube

"Flowers Bloom"

Sakta Flower Market. Kiosk No. 21. A flower kiosk as a space for the interaction between nature and the city. The fragility of flowers, worn-out plastic buckets, faded price tag imprints, oozing stems, and bandages on the sellers’ cut fingers. These contradictions, the apparent wrongness, the blending of floral and urban layers serve as the inspiration for photographers Julia’s Sinka’s work. The contrasts echo everyday childhood scenes in Eastern Europe’s creatively frugal, eclectic DIY cultural space, characterized by an abundance of materiality and combinations of aesthetically incompatible objects.

In the series "Flowers Bloom", Julia replaces her camera with an office scanner, exploring the materiality, shape, and color of flowers, deconstructing and layering them until their familiar outlines disappear. Layer upon layer, like imprints, cover the paper with a tangible texture of color, resonating with the layers of the city.

The kiosk installation created by Monta Briede becomes an organic scenography for Julia’s floral imprints. A concentrated overload of store-bought clichés – neon lights, LED displays, colorful catalogs – an excess and exaggeration so familiar and natural in the urban landscape and daily life, yet seemingly incompatible with the delicate essence of flowers. In the small space of the kiosk, the city’s multilayered and contradictory nature is revealed.
